Behind every wine is a winemaker, and behind every winemaker is a vision. A burgeoning and busy career as the current winemaker for Gilbert Cellars (Yakima, WA) didn’t stop Justin from roping in his dream of starting his own label: JB Neufeld. Enamored by the distinctive terroir of Washington, Neufeld will use the label as a platform to explore the nuanced combination of fruit, soil and climate that make Washington vineyards so unique.
The J is for Justin, the B for his wife, Brooke. She takes care of business and doesn’t get grumpy when the winemaker finds himself in the cellar ’til the wee hours.
The Yakima Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits clean, classic aromas and flavors of currant bud, mint, scrub brush and hints of flowers as well as a medium to full-bodied, balanced feel on the palate. Made in a straight, no frills style, with good acidity, beautiful focus and ripe tannins.
