Logan Winery

Whether it’s red or white, fizzy or sticky, funky or fruity, our family loves it. We love making it, drinking it, and most of all, sharing it. That’s me, Pete, on the right. I started Logan with my late father Mal in 1997 with our original eponymous Logan label. People seemed to like it, so I’ve made a few more wines since then. There’s our premium sparkling Vintage ‘M’ Cuvée, the quirky and popular Weemala range, the affordable quality of Apple Tree Flat and our newest range, Ridge of Tears, which heroes the best of the region. The region is the NSW Central Ranges, specifically Orange and Mudgee, and we’ve seen it come along in leaps and bounds since we started, both as a wine region and tourism destination.

Logan Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Logan Wine Tasting Note
The Logan Sauvignon Blanc is very pale gold in colour. It has a vibrant aroma of guava, meyer lemon, sage and white flowers. The gently textured palate zings with flavours of lime, pink grapefruit, papaya and nuts with a long mineral finish.

My Wineguy Tasting Note
We harvested the grapes for this Sauvignon Blanc between 11.2° and 12.5° Baumé from the 14th to the 23rd March 2014. The grapes are grown at an elevation of greater than 900 metres on the slopes of Mount Canobolas in Orange. The early part of the 2014 season was very dry and quite warm. From mid-February there were milder temperatures and a number of rain events bringing much needed water while also delaying the Orange pick to more regular harvest dates; however vineyards with good healthy canopies and lower crops per hectare saw little problems from the rain. In the end grapes were very rich in flavour and reds were very deeply coloured. At Logan we only harvested ripe, clean fruit and left 25% of our grapes unharvested. The 75% we did harvest is richly flavoured and has nice texture and varietal characters and good intensity due to the generally lower crop loads from the beginning of the season. The vines have been trained on a combination of VSP and Cane Pruned trellis systems.

Shortysliquor Tasting Note
The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc by Peter Logan opens with clean, fresh fragrances of lime juice, guava and honeysuckle blossom. On the palate the wine is bold and zesty, layering tart fruity notes of lime, grapefruit and young mango with a sprinkling of wild thyme adding interest and balance. Long and invigorating with a pleasingly crisp texture, this wine offers great value for its price point.

Dan Murphys Tasting Note
Logan Sauvignon Blanc has delicious aromas of passionfruit, lime and sage. The palate zings with flavours of guava and pink grapefruit before a long minerally finish.
