Description
August Briggs was founded in 1995 by August “Joe” Briggs, a well-known, consulting winemaker who parlayed his experience and relationships with premiere growers into one of Napa’s most acclaimed offerings of artisan, single vineyard and appellation wines. In 2011, Joe and his wife Sally handed over the reigns of their namesake winery to longtime August Briggs employees Colette Milliman and Matt Gacso. Together our new team continues the August Briggs tradition of offering an eclectic selection of classic and lesser known varietals sourced from longstanding partner growers. In keeping with Joe’s original vision for the winery, August Briggs offers wines of provenance, not pretense. We take our winemaking seriously, in hopes that you will seriously enjoy our wines.
August Briggs Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
Wine Enthusiast Tasting Note
A ripe, soft and well-integrated package of mountain fruit stars in this vineyard-designate, from a site high atop the Mayacamas Mountains that is famous for Zin. Spicy cinnamon spins itself through husky layers of black fruit and leather. Score – 90. (VIRGINIE BOONE, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 2015)
M&D Fine Wine Tasting Note
This is a ripe, plush, generous wine, with an elegant structure. It has a dark, densely colored garnet color with aromas of violet, cherries, and smoky oak. The wine is plush and juicy on the palate with deep persistent flavors of ripe-ripe raspberry and blackberry with mocha and cassis. The finish is easy and clean with hints of dark chocolate.
