Delaire Graff Chardonnay Banghoek Reserve 2014

Delaire Graff Tasting Note
Elegant with layered nuances of vanilla, peaches and honeycomb. A hint of minerality adds to lingering finish. From select hillside vineyards in the Stellenbosch region. The grapes were handpicked in the early hours over various ripening periods. Picking criteria was based on flavour to ensure optimal sugar concentration and balance of acidity.

Vinous Tasting Note
Pale, bright straw-yellow. Cumin, curry powder and white pepper accent aromas of white stone fruits and spiced apple on the inviting, high-toned nose. Supple, pliant and concentrated, offering refined, bone-dry flavors of ripe stone fruits, apple and spices. Really carries on the finish, spreading out to saturate the palate and energize the taste buds. And built to reward some aging.– Stephen Tanzer. Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2013)91 pts

Wine Advocate Tasting Note
Nov 2015 – Neal Martin -The 2014 Banghoek Reserve Chardonnay comes from the estate from vines located on north-facing vineyards between 380 meters and 500 meters. There is no bâtonnage here with 50% new French oak and 50% used barrels for ten months. It has a well defined nose, unfurling with tropical tones, a touch of brioche and nutmeg. The oak here is nicely integrated. The palate is nicely balanced with crisp lime and citrus fruit on the entry. The acidity is well-judged and it builds in the mouth towards a lightly spiced, satisfying finish. This is a well made Chardonnay from Delaire Graff. Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2014)91 pts
