Description
Bodegas Frontonio
Frontonio is located in the village of Épila, in the IGP Valdejalón in Aragón. They have acquired up to 17 plots of old vines (all around the village of Alpartir), some planted as early as 1890, up to 55 hectares, and have an old traditional winery they are restoring. In 2019 they are going to launch two new wines from an exceptional vineyard, El Jardín de las Iguales, a valley where they are really investing and planting some more, even recovering old terraces and rebuilding the ancient dry stone walls. The current output is 135,000 bottles.

Tasting Notes
The 2016 Supersónico, produced with Garnacha grown at high altitude, close to Calatayud, fermented in open vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in 456-liter oak barrels for six months. This is always produced with the grapes from the same vineyard, an unusual place, and the wine always has less color, more spices, and herbs, with subtleness, complexity, and elegance. The palate is medium-bodied, the tannins are very fine and the wine is lively and shows great freshness.
