Oregon Marionberry Whiskey
Oregon Marionberry Whiskey from Eastside Distilling is handmade with local Oregon marionberries and aged whiskey. All the rich flavor and deep red color comes from real fruit – no artificial coloring or flavor extracts are used in the production of this unique spirit.
Eastside Distilling Tasting Note
Marionberry Whiskey is rich in color like homemade strawberry jam. It has a bright, potent aroma of sweet mango, raspberry and blackberry that sweetens as the vapors disperse. Intense fresh marionberries hit the palate and quickly transform to spice and citrus; ultimately evolving into warm brandy and cherry essence. The finish lingers awhile with subtle young whiskey heat and baked tart dryness.
Whisky Critic Tasting Note
Eastside Distilling’s Marionberry Whiskey is, in the end, flavored whiskey, and as such, is never going to be as good – in its straight-up form – as regular ‘ol whisky. But, you can listen to their marketing spiel and combine it with lemonade for a sassy summertime drink that you may want to consider as a spiking ingredient for a family reunion picnic or whatever – and in that format, Eastside Distillery is a clear winner for summertime festivities. A clear winner. Well, actually, a plum wine-colored winner, but you know what we mean.
WC gives Eastside Distilling Marionberry Whiskey a 71 out of 100 score – but if you fancy trying a tipple, do not despair, that is actually a decent score for a flavored whiskey.
Drinkhacker Tasting Note
Eastside’s whiskey (it doesn’t say which) flavored with local Oregon marionberries and bottled at a slim 60 proof. A pretty maroon in color, surprisingly woody on the nose. Ample fruitiness on the palate — think strawberries, with just a touch of blueberry in there too — but tempered with some of whiskey’s fresh vanilla. Still, the finish is quite sugary and overwhelmingly jammy. That’s not a slight, but this is a far different drinking experience than the typical bourbon fan might be accustomed to. B
