Mignanelli Winery

We make California Pinot Noir from cool climate coastal + mountain vineyards – Santa Cruz Mountains, Anderson Valley and the Santa Lucia Highlands. Our goal is to create balanced wines (and awesome tasting) that express each individual vineyard site. 18 acre ranch that’s planted to a variety of Pinot Noir clones. Our original plan for this vineyard was to add to our Central Coast blend but the wine decided to tell us something different.  At the foothills of the Los Padres Mountains this cool weather site with gravel laced sandy loam soils produce wonderful California Pinot Noir.

Wine Enthusiast Tasting Note
A whopping deal at under $30, this shows seductive and intriguing aromas of cherry tomato, chopped oregano, thyme, tomato lead, incense, rose petals and hibiscus. There’s iron and cherry pit at the tip of the sip, which settles into mace, allspice and cinnamon, ever-evolving throughout the plum fruit flavors in the glass. Score – 94. Back Room Wine Tasting Note
The dry, wind-swept, sunny Santa Lucia Highlands make some of California’s best Pinot Noirs, hands-down. This new find for us is very delicious and an outstanding value to boot. Smell & taste cherry liqueur, pie spice, touch of red rose and black tea. Perfect balance of ripe fruit, acid and oak. Slam-dunk pick. You are in Back Room Wines’ archived wine section. This wine is no longer in stock. However, we’d like to know of your interest in this wine in case we get it again

Prince Of Pinot Tasting Note
Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. Very pleasant scent of cherry pie glaze, baking spices and dark red rose petal. Plush and velvety on the palate, with a generous charge of well ripened black cherry and black raspberry fruits with a wink of dark chocolate accent. Whole cluster plays only a subtle role in this wine which has beautifully integrated tannins and acidity. The seductive mouthfeel and seamless character speaks loudly of Pinot Noir. Score: 92. Fpwm Tasting Note
This is one of those Pinot Noirs that comes along every once in a long while that is just perfectly toned and universally appealing. We just had it on our wine bar menu and it was a HUGE hit! With a just right nose of ripe red fruits and a little spice, the medium bodied palate offers just enough concentration to show off the slightly sweet tinge of juicy cherry, and it finishes with just the right amount of acidity to give the wine a nice lift. But, it’s the super soft and silky texture that’s the key to its enormous charm and easy going, slurpable drinkability. It’s not every day we see a wine that shows the ripe and fruity character of Santa Lucia Highlands but with such great balance.
