Description
Stephen Goff left his day job to take a harvest position for a Carneros based Pinot Noir producer and that led to a postgraduate degree in enology and viticulture from State University of California at Fresno. After graduating, he was offered a position as assistant winemaker at Beaux Frères where he stayed for several years. He eventually worked his way into his current role as full time winemaker and vineyard manager of Colene Clemens Vineyards.
The Stephen Goff label allows Goff to explore making Pinot Noir from different AVAs and sites in the Willamette Valley. High toned, bright red cherry and floral tones with hints of barrel toast emanate from the nose of this medium bodied Pinot Noir. The wine enters the palette with good focus and energy, revealing flavors of bing cherry and strawberry melded with savory notes and barrel spice. Showing good flesh and extract the wine moves seamlessly through the mid palette into a long clean finish. Aged in 45% New and 55% 1-year old French oak, this wine will develop nicely in bottle for the next 6 to 8 years.
